Gateway

At the top of a large hill and down a gravel drive, is a home oriented toward the Elk Mountains. The spaces cascade down the hillside to mingle with snail shells in dry dirt. The scent of sage and drift of clouds make this parched land feel worn. When the weather moves in, all is exposed at the top of the world. This project is an addition to and renovation of the existing house - which at one point was occupied by monks. The clients are friends who will do the work themselves to build and make this home their own.
